No

The older inlines "silver blocks" like yours have the exit for the tell tale low on the block, (edit: actually the exhaust cover). Later models, (black blocks) were in between #3 and #4 (half way up the tower), or at the top of the block. If the water line is still hooked up try compressed air to clear the passage.

Yes.

Your welcome. Good luck. JR

Re: mercury 95 hp QUESTIONS??

Just looked up your engine on usboatsupply, (they have the complete parts list and related drawings for yer 1967 950), the tell tale hooks up to the base of the exhaust cover, and you can see a picture of the rubber water hose and the part numbers for the fittings if you look at the drawing for the "bottom cowl and shift linkage".

I hope it is still hooked up and some cornpressed air clears the way so it show you a water stream. It prolly will not be fun to install this critical indicator if it is not on the engine as the quarters are a bit tight inside that lower pan.

It would not be easy to see as the rubber hose hooks to the base of the exhaust cover very low in the motor pan, (cowl). See the usboatsupply online catalog drawings.

The rear of the mid section.

Someone may have replaced the fuel lines with clear lines. If so I would make sure they are approved fuel lines, (prolly not).

You have two fuel pumps and a fuel line loop to feed the three carbs. The factory lines were black rubber, but alcohol is real tough on 'em.

I have replaced most of the lines on me old silver blocks with modern fuel lines and 5/16 brass barbs. There are also return lines from the main bearings on the block for oiling, (factory lines were black rubber).

thax again

Glad to help. JR

Sounds like the oil return lines for the main bearings.
