Re: Ahoy ... Amsoil is not alone anymore

I read that thread, and commented in it.

Hi CATransplant,

Your comment in that other post is in relation to your's dislike for an oil mix you dont beleve in ... which I already knew about .... LOL but is not in any way close to an answer to my original question in that thread.

I read a lot of "bashing" and opinions ... but not even one feedback that would be close to the original question !!!

With that thread I was looking for "cold facts experiences" with Saber 100:1 mix related problems claimed to Amsoil ... I need that feedback to help others that dont have access to IBoat forums ...

I think you are credible ... but I need more than opinions.

Tx

Well, apparently you aren't going to get what you want here. I don't think there are many people on this forum who use Amsoil, so they wouldn't have any claims against Amsoil, would they?

The advice given here to use manufacturer's recommendations as to fuel:eek:il ratios is advice most people here follow.

Sounds to me like you are looking for something that isn't going to be found on iboats.com forums. Maybe you can find an Amsoil forum where people love the stuff.

If you're looking for reinforcement for your decision to use Amsoil, you probably won't get much of that here. If you're looking to tout Amsoil as the be-all and end-all of outboard lubrication, you've already discovered that you won't get a lot of takers.

These Amsoil threads have cropped up on iboats.com many time. Most often, in the end, we discover that the person touting the oil sells the stuff or works for Amsoil or something like that.

Use Amsoil Saber at 100:1 in your boat. We won't mind. We just don't recommend it, since it doesn't meed manufacturer's recommendations.

Re: Ahoy ... Amsoil is not alone anymore

I fully plan to use the Amsoil Saber Outboard oil in my pre-mix at a ratio of 100:1, and fully plan to provide complete detailed results including the engine blowing up (if it does), in this forum, without recommendations of course. I certainly wouldn't want to do that...heaven forbid. By September of this year I plan to graduate with my outboard water-wings and hopefully will be qualified to speak on behalf of my experience with this particular oil. Until then if you would like to know what this oil is capable of and what it's not capable of, you'll have to send me a PM. And if I can't immediately answer your question I will research it and get back with you on the answer as a PM. I also plan to research (in detail) the specification/standard that this particular oil was qualified to and provide details at a later date along with any other qualification data I can obtain such as how lean they took this oil to (which I personally am very curious to know) during the testing phase. Engineering is my background and specifications both building and interpretation was one of my specialties. And when I do get back on this topic it will be in a more proper thread location. If I took the fun out of the original post, I apologize, and will be more careful next time. Zilla.

Finaly someone as curious as me ... I will gladly side up with you in order to complement my curiosity and knowledge base. If I may offer you my first perception of this oil is that it would seem to be a different concept in lubrification than what we are used to for OB's. This oil simply clings more to anything it gets in contact with ... something similar to LU oil. (I can smell it) Also from some of it's specifications I suspect it ends up building a coating on moving parts that remains somewhat permanent ... then just a bit goes out and it only takes just a bit to replace. (as a figure of speach)

I also do not recommend to anyone to use this oil ... but just like you I will put it to some test for my own pleasure, knowledge base, and perhapaps as my humble contribution to less lake polution is the test show up right ...

Cheers

I suppose everyone is wondering what took me so long to post on this??

Well, here I go!

First off, There are plenty of people on this forum that use Amsoil products!

They all do what they say they will do!

OK, I am a Dealer, but I do not sell it almost never and certainly not on this forum!

I have been using the 2 cycle ol for about 30 years and have never had a problem with either of the 100:1 oils. I ran a late 70's 85 Evenrude on an old Ranger Bass boat WOT everywhere I went at 6,000 RPM and I mixed the old 100:1 at 80:1 just because I was running the engine so hard. It had a zillion hours on it when I bought it and I put a zillion hours on it and it went on to two other owners after me! I have ran the 100:1 at 80:1 in every boat I have had.

I now run the HP injector oil and could not be happier!

OK. As I said, use what you want. I don't care at all. I will continue to recommend that people use manufacturers' recommendations. I figure a guy can't go wrong doing that.

I come into these threads only when someone appears to be suggesting that someone other than their own self use something other than manufacturers' recommendations. Then I point out that those folks aren't going to pay for any damage their advice may cause.

I have no problem with individuals doing whatever they want with their own equipment.
