1982 25 horse Johnson troubles!

I had to run the motor with the choke pulled just to get back to the shore. I am thinking about cleaning the carberator. Does anybody have some good cleaning methods? OR how much does it cost to buy a new carberator.

Does this engine have a fuel filter?

You need to get rebuild kits, theres not much to it, just be sure to run a wire through the jets to make sure they are not clogged with bit of rubbish.

I got my carb kits here on iBoats, good prices and quick service.
Carb kits cost about $20 per carb, new carbs cost $2oo-300 each plus.

doubtful you need a new carb.
I would do a good carb cleaning.

Btw, I had my 25 out today.
She ran like a champ.
