I have a 125 force

check vaule installed at tank rebuilt the fuel pump
checked the fuel feed in tank for leaks non found breather is open and works
had a new impeller installed in the water pump and timming set

I fill the boat up and it seemed to run great for about 1 hour
then it stated to bog out speed droped from 32 to very slow
checked all the connections on the fuel line all are tight
added more fuel it ran ok for a short time then started to bog again
my son pumped the bulb and it would pick up speed then drop again he pump some more run again .and bog again.
rebuilt the fuel pump still the same problem

i also put it in nutural and let it run for about 5 min it would die
bulb was soft pump it hard start it run it 5 min it dies again

Re: 1986 125 force loses speed PLEASE HELP

Fuel pump is sucking the bulb flat, so the obstruction or air leak is between the tank and the bulb.

I would start looking near the top of the tank, downward to where the fuel level was when it started acting up. betting on the water separator filter or hose fittings.

There might be something in the tank itself that is blocking the fuel pickup. Try looking in the tank itself. You can remove the fuel sending unit to gain access to the interior of the tank to see if there is any junk in there.

Did you check to see that the tank is vented?

Bulb soft is ok if callapsing isn't ok. You might check the fuel pump pulse port sometimes they get gunked up a little. I had a pick up tube that leaked air where it was inserted into the tank assemble.Perhaps the pick up is cracked.
It does appear it could be sucking air somewhere between the tank and pump.A defective connector can leak air but not leak fuel.
Not unheard of for a new connector to be defective.

I had a 86 85hp Force that did the same thing. I went through everything to figure out the problem. What seemed to repair it was the sparkplug gap and It may have had a resistive connection at one of the spark plug wire ends. Check for rust/corrosion inside of the wire boots and double check the gap and spark plug number. Check the plugs for fouling from oil. I found the synthetic oil builds up on the plugs more than the regular oil.
