ok guys i have researched but not qiute found the right anwser or exact same problem so here it goes from the start. my motor will run at low speed but if i squezze the bulb it will go faster then when i release it it slows down back to 10mph i can do this all day at idle it will run for a few minutes until it runs out of fuel the bulb is not collasping but there is not alot of fuel in the bulb i pump it up and starts then i gas the trottle shuts down a few times, pump the bulb until i can feel that the bowls are full start it and throttle up and it will just get to full plane then settles back down to same slow speed. this is the problem

now i have replaced all fuel items as far as lines bulbs(twice) i checked the fuel tee coming off the fuel pump and splitting off to the carbs looks good, i replaced the fuel/water seperator, i have a new inline fuel filter, i pulled the bowl drain scews out and sqeezed the bulb great flow there,

i dont understand why i am losing prime or why its not leaning out because it will only run as fast as the fuel is flowing, it will run all day long at about 2500 rpms, doesnt miss fire or run on 3 cyclinders or anything. the water outlet is cool even after running like this all day. all spark is fine just replaced plugs and new wires. someone please help and i dont think its the check valve because i blew into the line and hooked it back up and still had the same problem and the vent is good i checked that line as well.

does the check valve prevent fuel from flowing back into the tank?
aluminuim 60 gallon tank

im goin to try and run it on a aux tank and see if its the fuel pump if it is i wanna go to an electric one the vro is off and a manual one was installed
i kno im am spurting out info all over im just getting really mad because im nickle and dime'n my self to death.

The fact that you can pump the bulb and get the engine to pick up and the engine slows back down unless you continue is indicative of a fuel pump delivery issue. Sounds like either the fuel pump is in need of attention or the pulse hose that actuates it from the crankcase is leaky.

Fuel pump bad. Pumping the primer bulb substitutes the normal fuel pump action with the manual pumping action of your hand.
Pull off a fuel line feeding the carbs, make sure the end is in a bottle or something to catch any fuel, start it and note that no fuel flows unless you pump the primer bulb. Bad fuel pump.

And yes OB is right on in his post above.

Re: 93 120hp looper fuel problem???

ok guys i got alot of info and i wish i new how to put pictures in this but i dont know how so here it goes. first you were right my fuel pump was bad i put the new one on and took apart the old one to inspect it. upon inspection i noticed that there are 2 lilttle orange discs i guess they are for the pumping method behinf the springs with the plastic caps? well one of those was missing about the size of a 3/8 washer of it. the center was still there but it did not look like the one on the other side of the diafram so that why i couldnt keep prime but my motor would still run alittle, so where was the missing piece u ask. well it was in the fuel after all in the back not blocking any of the outlet hoses to the carbs thank god. so i took my boat out with my son today. it started right up and went for a cruise. when i got out of the no wake zone i hit the throttle well it went to 26 mph and that was it so now im like what the heck now, i slowed down to 15mph and hit the throttle wide open again and it stayed there now im getting ticked off. so i stopped and primed the fuel bulb it had fuel but it was just alittle soft, then i started again and went wide open and it ran to 26mph and stayed so this time i didnt back off and it did not go any slower or faster. i brought the boat home after that and i went straight to the carbs i took off the bowl screws and squeezed the bulb and all but one carb poured fuel out the one that didnt just dribbled so i took it off and went straight to the needle vent screw where the flot lifts and it shuts well lone behold there was the missing lilttle piece of that fuel pump disc partially blocking the fuel flow into the carb. now tomorrow im goin to run it again and see if i can get it right this time
