Finally May 3rd came:D

Took the new boat to the lake and spent 3 hours on the water. The boat performed great: planed fast, cornered really smooth and is really comfortable to ride!

Loaded with 5 adults and 4 kids, 2 medium ice boxes, snacks, 2 paddles, a 10 lbs. anchor, 20 gal. of fuel...the Yammy F75HP behaved like a champ! (I have to admit, the first two hours of break in was a real drag and were extremely boring:rolleyes:) After those 2 hours, it was Great!

One observation: as I figured out beforehand, the OB is mounted too low (1" below the keel); I have 2 rooster tails coming from the cavitation plate and spraying the OB's cowling (SP). I really don't like this, and although I'm pleased with the boat's performance, I want this fixed. I'm going to wait for the 10 hour inspection for the Yamaha guys to lift it for me.

Besides this, It was a great experience, and me and my family had a blast:D:D

Enough chit chat, onto the pics:D

Just sharing the joy!

Cheers!

1) I installed a SS 6" bow cleat
2) For trailering I fitted it with a bow security chain
3) Ready to go
4) My towing vehicle, 2002 RAV 4
5) Just arrived at the lake's marina

Looks great, sounds great! Let us know how the change in mounting heighth of the motor works out. Observation: If you really want to prevent your boat from being displaced forward on the trailer due to hard braking, I recommend you remove the chain from around the winch stand and loop it around the trailer's main, center beam AND that first trailer crossmember.

Be safe, good luck!

Re: Maiden Voyage

Thanks Mike:)

Good advice on the bow chain Willy, thanks.

I'll post the results of raising the OB. I'm almost certain the top speed is going to increase a bit, and the rooster tails will be gone:D

Cheers!

Congrats Nico, she's a beauty. I'm really happy with my Glastron too, so far so good. Hopefully the mechanic will sort out your engine mounting for you. The kids look pretty happy there...so does the funny guy driving! :D

Re: Maiden Voyage

Glad to hear everything went well on the first time out. Looks like some beautiful water you have to play on.

Re: Maiden Voyage

Thanks Rick.

Yup, it's a beautiful small lake; you can swim all year round (as with all tropical weather waters;)) and there are some sweet spots you can ski all day.

After reading some really dangerous and infortunate "first time outs", I'm glad too it all went out great:)

Re: Maiden Voyage

I would suggest that you get some fenders for your trailer. I would hate for that nice new boat to get chipped due to stones flying off the tires and hitting it.

Re: Maiden Voyage

RR,

The trailer came with fenders, but they got stolen in customs:(

I asked a metal shop to build them, but they were asking too much (US $200). The driving distance from my house to the lake is only 13 miles, and I made sure I drove really slow and with caution:)

Luckily enough, the boat is staying at the marina, so it will only travel a few yards when going from the hangar to the ramp.

Nevertheless, I'll have them made, when I find someone who charges a reasonable price:rolleyes:
