Need aluminum boat part - help?

I have an older (1970?) 14' aluminum boat.

The bracket / corner support that helps connect the transom to the side of the boat is broken in half and the other half was missing when I bought the boat.

2 questions:

1. Does this part have a specific name?

2. Where can i order these from?

Thanks!

I've seen it called a transom corner brace. If you're boat's that old, it's unlikely you'll be able to locate the exact part, but if it's one of the major brands, it's worth contacting the manufacturer, since they often didn't change the designs of some of those tinnies for years. The part from one of the newer boats might just fit.

If appearance isn't really an issue to you, you could make your own, using aluminum angle stock and a triangular piece of 1/8"-3/16" aluminum plate.

If you're not handy, any shop that does aluminum welding could fab up something like that in short order. They might also be able to fix your existing one.

It's a common piece to break, since it's usually an aluminum casting. I don't know of an aftermarket substitute.

You could make one out of a 3/4" inch thick PVC panel or plywood.

Go to parts and accessories on eBay. Type vintage boat in the search block. I saw two on there today that you could probably make work.
