Re: inboard general info

In the ---Adults Only--- sticky is a link to the official Mercuiser Service manuals. The intro to each section (motor, electrical, etc) gives a description of the system and such.

But, the service manuals I mentioned mainly cover I/O engines. I think a few cover some of the old Mercruiser inboard transmissions. I think it might be Manual 1 - 3 that covered them. From what I know, Mercruiser hasn't made a straight inboard transmission in quite a while.

Manual # 1 section 6 covers the series 71 and 72 Direct Drive transmissions. I think these are the predecessors to the Velvet Drive Transmissions that are still fairly common.

Service Manual #1 1963- 1973 All Engines and drives
Link opens index only, you need to click on the section in the
index on the left side of the screen to access each section
http://www-alt.mercurymarine.com/mne...l/01/cover.pdf

Service Manual #2 1974 to 1977 All Engines and drives. (1.0GB)
http://www-alt.mercurymarine.com/mne...l/02/cover.pdf

As it says in the description, you need to click on each section once you open the main part and it will load the next section. If you save each one to disk in the same folder, then later, they will all work together.

But, manual #2 also has info on the direct drive and v-drive transmissions. So, since you are just looking to "study" that one might be easier since it is all one document. It's a long download, though.
