anybody use their boat as a RV on a trip, since you cant tow both, and a cruiser does both. why not?

What do you mean you can't have both? My parents have an 08 Chevy 3500 dualie with an 11.5 Artic Fox slide in camper (with slide out, heat A/C, generator) and they tow their Chaparral 265 cuddy (with Shorepower, head/shower, A/C, microwave) behind it. Before that they towed a Regal 2660 once or twice. So they have two campers, the slide in and the boat!

I have a suburban, and a express cruiser, so I cant tow a camper and a boat. so, was thinking I might go camping with my boat, on my way to a boating destination, or if the lake doesn't allow anchorage. camp on board in a camp ground.

Ok, if you don't have the equipment, I get it. My parents used to have a Suburban that they towed a cruiser with. And yes, if they needed to sleep along the way to the boating destination, they would climb up into the boat. But not usually at a campground, and it would be hard to hook up a water source to run the A/C and stuff. Plus isn't Shorepower different from the power in campgrounds?

I just read an article in a trailering magazine where a guy and his wife did this for part of the Great Circle Loop.

?The river trip began after a seven-day road trip from Seattle to Iowa, where the boat was used as an RV to camp in parks and campgrounds. The boat's electrical system was plugged into the campground's system with an adapter and the boat's head and holding tank were avoided. The boat attracted visitors in the campground with the question, "Where are you going?"?

I have slept in my cuddy cabin a couple of times on the trailer in a camping slip at the lake we go to all the time, no utilities hooked up though. All the kids stayed in tents, it was fun.

Never done it myself although I did witness it when camping in England many years ago. The folk were on their way somewhere and pulled into the campground, got out the lawn chairs and BBQ, had supper then climbed aboard. Next morning they went to the shower and washroom area, came back, climbed into the vehicle and off they went.

I see people towing doubles quiet often. Your camper has to be a 5th wheel and a receiver goes on the back of the camper to attach the boat to the camper. There usually 1 ton duelly rigs so it not that it cant handle it, its just that people dont know how to tow doubles and they dont need the endorsment like the truck drivers do.
