1976 Merc 850XS surges at idle

I have had the carbs and fuel pump rebuilt, new plugs, new merc fuel hose w/ bulb, cleaned tanks, fresh 87 oct. no ethenol fuel , installed cartridge fuel filter, and it still surges at low idle. The bulb keeps going soft so replaced all clamps. Have to restart 3 or 4 times to load boat on trailer. I am at wits end. Thanks

If the bulb goes soft after you did all that Id go back and check the float adjustment,or the fuel pump(s).

Thanks for the info, will check these out and let you know if this fixed my problem.
