Ok, there is something rigged wrong with my SIMS system.
The 4" SIMS only power up with the STB key. If I Fire up the Port eng it runs but I get no Gauges until I turn the STB key.

Can anyone tell me what wire the guy that rigged my boat missed?

Your rigger used a single engine network power node instead of the multi-engine power node.

Re: SIMS Gauges only turn on with Stb key? WTF!

I have a new pair of Suzuki 175hps (they are FANTASTIC!!!) Running the NMEA 2000 network and the Suzuki SIMS (Lorance 4") system.

"lakensea Your rigger used a single engine network power node instead of the multi-engine power node."

Aha ha!!!! That makes sense!!!

When I first got the boat back, they had rigged the boat as 2 networks; I had to fight with them to convince them that the motors need to be connected to talk to one another. They "Fixed" that but I have this wacky deal where only one key turns on the system...

Everyone has bad days and I understand that but I want it perfect.

So, what do I do? I won't let them touch the boat again and the other dealer in town will probably want me to pay for the multi-engine power node...

Dealer says (over phone without looking )that I have Multi eng network node otherwise both gauges wouldn't turn on. He says that they must only be pulling power from one key.

Does that make sense?

They offered to drag the boat back to their shop but my trailer is getting rickety and I'd rather just fix it myself.

Re: SIMS Gauges only turn on with Stb key? WTF!

I think I figured it out.

What they installed originally is:

On the Port eng
Product ID: 990C0-88012
Manufacturer: Suzuki
Fused (3A) lead connects extension cable to the power source.

On Stb eng
Product ID: 990C0-88012
Manufacturer: Suzuki
Fused (3A) lead connects extension cable to the power source.

When they hooked the 2 networks together they just unhooked one of the 88012?s?

But what I need is this:
Product ID: 990C0-88030
Manufacturer: Suzuki
Suzuki Power Node. Allows NMEA network to be powered from multiple power sources (key switch, accessory switch, etc)

Am I on the right track?

Re: SIMS Gauges only turn on with Stb key? WTF!

Ok, after digging in and pulling off several hundred feet of electrical tape...

It looks like I do have 1
Product ID: 990C0-88030
Manufacturer: Suzuki
Suzuki Power Node. Allows NMEA network to be powered from multiple power sources (key switch, accessory switch, etc)

But it is only tied into one key. Can anyone pont me to a diagram of the wiring for the 990C0-88030 ?
Thanks.

Black - Ground
Purple - IGN + (Suzuki grey) - 1 for each engine
Red - Network switch (if used)
Isolate and tape back any unused wires
