Hello Folks...

I recently purchased an Elgin 7.5 HP outboard motor and I'm having trouble figuring out how to hook the fuel line onto the outboard.
The out board has a little coupler coming from the bottom front of the motor.
The line both ends of the fuel line provided have no ends. One of the line with the prime bulb fit's no problem over the fitting on the fuel tank. The other end of the same fuel line won't go or appears small than the fitting for attaching the fuel line to the motor. Do I need another fitting for the fuel line?.

I have checked around to locate the year of this Elgin using my model # but have had no luck.

Here's the model # from the machine

C571.597561

Anyone have any idea's on the year of this motor or how to hook the fuel line up correctly.

Thanks in advance,

HQS

Hello...

Upon further investigation, looks like I'm missing the male quick disconnect which attaches to the fuel line.
Part # is 197787.
Does anyone know where I can purchase in Canada?.

Thanks,

HQS

I tried looking up that model number on www.searspartsdirect.com but the site didn't recognize it. Probably because it's a Canadian model.

So, what does the connector look like? If it has a knurled ring that pulls back, it's almost certainly a Chrysler connector. If it's something else, you may have a problem.

I don't know the age of your Elgin, so I can't offer much more than that.

Finally, if you're still having no luck, look at how the male connector is attached to the outboard. You can probably replace it with a Johnson/Evinrude male connector. That would simplify your life over time. Chrysler connectors don't seem to be in retail stores so much any more, although you can order them online.

Found it!

Found it!

I looked up the part number on the Sears site. It is, indeed, a Chrysler connector. Any mail order marine outlet that ships to Canada will have them.

You could also go to a marine store in your area. They'll have it, or can order it.

Re: Old Elgin 7.5 HP Motor - Fuel Line Hook-up ???

Hello...

Thanks for the reply. I found the part from discount marine in MI and having it shipped out today. It's the female end that attaches to the fuel line to the tank which I am missing. Thinking on replacing the primer bulb also as it is OEM and very hard to push. Other than that, my steel transom support as broken away from the rivets on the floor so I will need to drill them out and replace them.

Any advice on drilling and replacing the transom support rivets?. Where's a good place to get replacement rivets for Aluminum boats?. What size would I need and is a special tool required?

Thanks in advance,

HQS
