Hi all,

I am new to this forum, I tried to search but nothing came up. My problem is...I bought this motor about aweek ago, the guy sold me the motor had it perch on a side of a trialer and started it up ( without any water), the motor ran good and started on 2nd pull.

I took it home and finally got around to clean and lube and replacing the case oil yesterday. I started the motor and it ran (again no water for less then 30 seconds). shut it off to move it. then tried to start it again, but the pull cord snapped. spent about an hour fixing it...then with everything together and good, I pulled the cord again, but this time its not starting...10 pulls and still not starting. gave up and went online to research...

my friend told me that its not supposed to run without water, and I might have fried the water pump which probably ceased the engine thats why its not running....Can anyone please shed some light on this? I am really nervous to know if I did fried the motor, is it trashed now?

ur water impeller will be fryed and hopely it didnt implode on u and sent the pieces flying all around in ur cooling tubes stuck. well ur motor porbably should be ok. did u notice any overheat or it was really hot of any kind?

thanks for the quick reply,

I didnt notice any overheating or any places that got really hot, but what concerns me is that now its seems to not start anymore.

correctly if I am wrong but even if the water impeller is fried, the engine itself should still start or atleast pop...anyway, hopefully I can get more input and work on it more. Does anyone knows where I can get the OMC carb kit for cheap?

You need to check several things. frist order a water pump impeller and a service manual.
Look in the top post on this forum (Secret File) for the procedures to get a non running motor up and going.

Probable issues:
No fuel - carb stopped up - Fuel pump failure
No Spark - Points/plugs/Coils
Lost compression - Rings or cylinder damage.

If it didn't seize(lock up) you should be able to get it going.
