On several forums here, I have got the message loud and clear to not use Engine Starting Fluid in a two stroke, but can I spray carb cleaner into a carb like I can a four stroke? Can I safely add carb cleaner to premix to alleviate carb problems or for general cleaning? Is is safe for the motor? If OK, what is the best to use?

Re: Carb cleaner in gas

If you feel that carb cleaner is needed....then its time to pull the carbs and clean them the proper way.I wouldn't spray anything in my carb for "general cleaning"....think about it.When you spray something in the carb throat it isn't cleaning the carb. Its just running through the throat into the engine....same thing happens on a 4 stroke.;)

Buy a can of SeaFoam from an auto parts/Wal Mart store and use that in you gas. Just follow the directions. It works great for what you are asking aboutYou don't want to spray into the carb because you will wash all the lubricant off the cylinder walls and scuff the cylinder walls.
