Do I have the right dipstick?

I have a 1989 OMC 460 with King Cobra outdrive. My engine oil shows overfull on the dipstick but I am questioning if it is the right dipstick. The attached pdf shows what my dipstick looks like. It just says safe and low, however the owners manual says there is a dipstick with different levels that each indicate one quart. I may just have to change it but its super clean so hopefully someone can save me a little time. Thanks.

When the oil level reaches the ADD mark ADD one quart.

Have you owned this boat from new. If not maybe a previous owner broke or lost the original and put another one on.

Your crankcase is also overfull by atleast a quart, maybe 2.
You said it was clean so I hope its just overfilled with oil and not already all loaded up with gas rom bad ring seal and or an overly rich fuel condition.

Re: Do I have the right dipstick?

I changed my oil over the weekend and drained out at least 10 quarts and it holds 6.8 with the filter. Whoever changed the oil before I bought it screwed up pretty good!
