I am doing a boat restoration and lost the nut that holds the steering wheel onto my 3/4" tapered shaft. My new steering wheel came with a nut, but it doesn't seem to fit.
I have tried 1/2", 5/8", and M12 nuts and none of them fit.
I don't know exactly what steering system I have, but I think it is a Teleflex Safe-T, based on the sticker on the bezel. It says "TR-188 B.I.A. Rating Safe-T". The boat is a 1987 Fischer 14' aluminum v-hull if that helps anyone narrow down the options.
Anyone have a guess for what nut size I need? Is it a pipe fitting instead of a machine nut? This is driving me crazy!
Thanks.
Edit: From what I have found, the steering assembly is a Teleflex SH5023P Safe-T TS. I just can't find anywhere that tells me what size thread is on the end of the shaft...
