I have an issue with my 1996 evinrude 225 V6.
The engine starts up but i notice it's rough. Intermitingly it dies then starts right up the rps are at about 1100 at start up then drop down to 900 after quickstart clears. Then engine runs and will turn off intermitingly, It will has an ocasional cough or head shake. I have checked all the plugs they seem o.k except four the secong one on the portside (not sure if this is cylinder 4 or 5). I notice its fouled up. I have spark on this cylinder moved aroung coils and plugs this one consistently gets fouled. All the carb jets are at 2 3/4 turns.
How can i determine if this is a timming issue or carb issue or recirc valves?
I have redone the carbs, changed power pack (output 150) & flywheel.
I also notice when I move the screw for the idle and not much change of rpm's when the idle base moves.
This eradic issue has me going crazy and concerned can the motor blow up because of this? I'm even scarred to test it out because i dont know if i have a lean condition or timming issue causing an engine malfunction.
Thank you, ahead of time...
Mike
