Does any body know what wire is hot only with the motor running? I am hooking up a charger for my electric motor battery and need to conect a control wire to hot only when the motor is running or the key is on.

I poked with a tester and could only find hot all the time connections

The purple wire in the harness is the B+ switched lead. It will have 12 v when the key is in the on position. By the way, you have a pretty small charging system on that motor to try and recharge a trolling motor battery. At wide open throttle it only puts out around 6 amps.

personally it is not worth it. you would have to run 1/2 tank of gas, at wide open throttle to charge the accessory battery. that motor is designed only to support the starting circuit.

get a good charger and charge at home. also recharge every time you come home, it increases the life of the battery. they do not like to sit discharged.
