Recently got a 85 Bayliner Capri to restore. Gas tank leaked, tore it out, now cant find one to fit. Old one looks kind of scary and I want to replace it. Where to look? I have searched the net and cant find the right size.

Hi.

Moeller builds many types of tanks for marine use. You may find one that suits your needs in the "Boat Parts and Accessories" tab on the above left of this page. Have you checked out flushing your existing tank or is it shot ?

or find a custom fabricating shop nearby who can make you an aluminium one. We have a local place called Express Custom Trailers. they specialize in trailers and truck boxes, but they will weld up anything you require. Its fairly handy.

Try http://oceanlinkinc.com/tanks/gas-diesel.htm Their prices are reasonable and if they don't list the tank, it probably isn't made.

Be prepared to spend a few hundred. Belly tanks are not cheap.

BTW, how are the hoses? If they are good, treat them with care, as they are a premium priced part.

What model Bayliner do you have? Got pics?

Dont forget to always check out and support this site by buying from the iboats.com store by the way. I wish they would expand their fiberglass selections so that more people would want to buy from them...their tank selection is great.

I have cleaned it and thats how I found the leak. It looks pretty bad in a few places. I check moeller and nothing fits. Thanks for the input.

You have to be kidding, right? What's so hard about entering the gallon size of your tank and clicking SEARCH? Or just enter the length, width and height of your tank and clicking SEARCH?

That site has the tank she needs, don't try to redirect her to something that won't fit.
