transom

was working on the steering cable last night, and looked at the bottom of the transom, right where it would start to go under the boat. it has about a nickel size chip out of the top white coating, exposing clear material underneath. what would i use to replace that white coating?

Epoxy works very well. You can pick up small tubes of it just about anywhere. Look for marine stuff.

Bondo makes a Marine Epoxy Stick that works even under water. Most hardware stores have it or can get it. You cut off a chunk and knead it real good and stick it to the damaged surface and smooth out. The more you smooth it out the less sanding you will have to do

If you want a pure white repair look for Marine Tex putty which is two part epoxy but dries white.
