Just wondering if it's OK to use last year's gas in my Yamaha 15hp 4stroke outboard motor ?

Thanks,

Only if you treated the gas last year before you shut it down.

Don't take a chance ... Buy new gas.

Re: Old gas

I dump old gas in my vehicule and fill up with high octane ... then use fresh gas for my OB

The oil part acts like "top oil" as upper cylinder lubricant.

Re: Old gas

My lawnmower started this year first pull using gas that I bought three years ago which has been stored outside in a red plastic gas can.
I store my old Craftsman push mower outside under a wheelbarrow turned upside down for protection from the weather.LOL.
My Homelite weedwhacker is using the gas/oil mix that I also bought three years ago to start my old Merc and I poured some off from the boat tank into a smaller container to make it easier to handle and all I did to it was replace the plug and it is running on the leftover gas that was in its tank from last year.
I buy premium gas for any of my engines with storage in mind.It seems to last longer and I think that premium has less additives,in fact I have read that it does not use ethenol but that may not be the case these days.
There is nothing wrong with burning off your old gas in your vehicle and replacing it with new product but I don't buy the gas treatment $$$$ or else that is being promoted these days and until my life experiences dictate differently I will continue using my old gas.
Back in the days of MTBE all bets were off, that stuff was worse than anyone will admit to!!LOL.Ron G

Re: Old gas

Gas doesn't go bad as fast as alot of people think it does.

My last trip was Nov 28, my first trip this years was April 12, I added 2 gallons to my 6 gallon tank and the engine never knew the difference, I drain the float bowls of coarse, same with my mower turned it off in Sept mowed again 3 weeks ago, checked the oil and hit the key, mowed fine ran well.

Just try to double what is in the tank and you will be fine, this is one of those things you won't be getting a consensus so take the advice given and make up your own mind.

Seems gas goes bad if it's in contact with air ... in a well closed container it will probably be good for a long time.

Cheers
