help w/my 140 parts

ok i got a 1976 merc 140 i/o i need to know what flywheel and balancer i can use i know that the newer 2.5 dont work.any help would be appreciated thanxs

any GM neutral ballance flywheel will work as long as the diameter is correct, all have the same bolt pattern on the crank,just go to your local auto wreckers

lets try this again i got a flywheel but now i need a lower timming gear

Ayuh,... Timing gears are replaced as Sets,.... Don't replace either 1, without the other...

im in the middle the local guys said u couldent but a timming set?? i guess ill have to get more involved. buy the way thanks for all the help

You can't buy a timing set. Only the cam gear or the crankshaft gear.

Ziggy posted 2 links you can find the gear at, the cam gear part number is 43-46745 (old number from Mercruiser) the new Merc number drops the 43-.

Ooops,... That's the steel gear/ fiber gear, ain't it,..??

bain,... If this is So,... You'll need the fiber gear...
