Hi everyone, this was the best place I could find to put this post. I know it's not a jetski but a boat with somewhat of the same drive. I am considering buying a 2001 seadoo utopia. Can anyone tell me what kind of fuel economy I will get with a 200hp direct injection optimax engine vs the 240hp merc engine. Should I even consider the 215 with a carb? I heard they drink a lot more gas. It seems easier to find the 240hp version. I cannot seem to find this info anywhere on the net. Thanks in advance.

check this site http://seadooforum.com/
I have a seadoo challanger jet boat. its a nice boat, but its a bit different to control than your prop boat. it takes a bit of adjusting to it so account for that first time you take it out. use neutral to dock and manuver, took me few tries to learn the damn thing. i dont know much about what engines are good and what not, bought mine new and I also have a jet ski as well...

the boat is a jetski, but the engine is an outboard. yeah, wierd combination. Some seadoo's use rotax jetski engines, some use the bigger merc engines which are outboards connected to a jet drive.

(i own a sugar sand tango w/ merc 175)

chuckle// steering is not a problem any more.. ask me how I know// www.cobrajetsteering.com as for fuel consumption,, it all depends on how you drive it,, I have a 250 hp jet ski that uses premium fuel and it only gets 4 m p g,, there are charts that will tell you fuel consumption,, the mercury engines are pretty reliable and that is the most important thing to be concerned with on a boat
