I have a 2nd hand 4hp aux Mariner outboard and recently tried it in reverse......the engine went back but the boat did not....the engine arced up out of the water because it does not have any way that the retainer clip engages on the bar at the moment ....and no way that I can see that it will because there is a pin at the back of the shaft that prevents the clip engaging. I don't know what year she is either so hope it is something generic that I can resolve easily....can anyone assist??
