Year and Mix Ratio

Hi, cookiemann here. I'm new to this forum. Just inherited a 15hp Johnson o/b from my Dad. Mod 15R74S, is this a 1974 short shaft?? What is the reccommended gas/oil ratio?? Thanks

It's a 1974, yes. Probably short shaft. 50:1 ratio. Nice outboard.

WOW, That was quick...Thanks CATransplant. Has to be short shaft...its on a jon boat and its a short stubby motor.

I'm sure you'll see me from time to time around the site. I also have a 79 Starcraft I/O 140Mercruiser that's pretty much a mystery to me, in a lot of ways.

1974 15hp Johnson. Ratio is 50/1. Approx 15" from bottom of transom brackets to cavitation plate just above propeller = short shaft.
