Re: 68 Starcraft Starchief 18' Cuddy Restoration

Bret, I just love seeing you rip thru this thing. Personally, that's the approach I took to stay focused and GITERDONE!!!! I figured if I took my time I would start procrastinating and end up with a grass killer in the yard.

Really diggin the wood man!!!

Thanks! I know what you mean about procrastinating, I have alot of half done projects:rolleyes: so I am trying to keep focused and GITERDONE:D!!! The wood was decided on after seeing the fantastic wood on your project, I just knew I needed some of that action::cool:

Here is the roof stripe and a pic of the transom, and a pic of the underside of the bow for DANZIG (FYI the only original wood left on the boat!)

Beautiful boat dude. You're doing some incredible work there. I was following along when I was on vacation and you're rocketing along.

Do you have any tips on getting the bow cap off as that where I'm hung up at? I'm doing the 77 version of your parts boat :)

I think that a stripe on the roof and on to the bow would be killer..But you know me and stripes!!!

That solid stripe looks good...Dont laugh at my paintbrush skills, here is what I would have done...

Vegas - I really like the color of your seats, that orange is gonna be eye catching!

I put a ceiling in the cuddy tonight. It didn't have one originally- just exposed ribs and hot aluminum. I added one with a couple of led ceiling lights with built in switches. I stuck some leftover pink insulation between the ribs to keep the hot sun from heating the cabin too much. Then I covered it all with some white fiberglass reinforced paneling/sheet from home desperate. Waterproof and it will never mold. :D

Yes that looks awesome. Gotta luv the cudy is that what that is. Damn kinda wish I had one of dem biguns with the porta potty and sink, stove, fridge and little table, for the get together. Then I wouldn't need a hotel or a park cabin. I saw a 23' one a while back in great shape for like 3200$ should have went and got it. It was in great shape turnkey 1 owner. :(

Jim, if you do a search on Ebay you'll find what your looking for. It's buy it now for 1395.00 in PA.

THE CUDDY LOOKS GREAT! I had the same plan in mind for when i get that far along with one of those DC fans in the door with a mesh to keep mosquitos out in case i pull an all nighter.

Re: 68 Starcraft Starchief 18' Cuddy Restoration

Thanks for the compliments on the ceiling guys:D Today I took off work a little early to run to town and pick up my new lexan windshield. then, when I got back, I realized I hadn't painted the frame yet. Oh well, I got the first coat of grey on it and the transom as well as the hatch cover. I couldn't resist adding some bling (Thanks NB!) I also started polishing and re-installing the rubrails in the cockpit.

I am gearing up for a big fishing trip this weekend. My dad and I are flying up to Minn. to fish for walleye. My dad grew up fishing this lake up there, and I am taking him back for Father's day. The last time we were up there was 30 yrs ago when I was 11. The lake is called Rush Lake -3500 acres in Ottertail county. We are flying in to Fargo and renting a car for the hour drive east.

Hey! That is my idea! Get outta my brain!! :D

I 'm going to do that under the "bow deck" also.

Our boats, though different years and manufacturers, are constructed so similar it is almost scary.

This thread/your build, is like a preview for me, thanks for posting it! :)

Now, if I can talk you into building a hardtop over the pilot 'n' copilot seats you will have me covered!

Brett that cabin ceiling looks great and the emblem looks perfect- it's nice to see NB taking care of the SC Armada like that.

Speaking of available SC Islander/Chiefs the "USS Enterprise" has been on CL in my area, plenty of older starcrafts around my neck of the woods:D

This 22' Islander has been around WAY too long for $1300 no motor though

That's a cool trip you've got going to Minn. You don't get many chances in life to do something like that with work and other non-important crap getting in the way.

I won't remember work tomorrow 10 years from now but you'll remember that trip forever.

Well I got the front windshield in tonight. I have plenty of the windshield gasket if anyone needs it 90' of a 100' roll left:eek: I also got the vinyl in the cockpit and cabin rub rail.
