Is there a trick to installing a replacement stator? My original looks like it was its covered in epoxy. The new one isn't. It is the OEM replacement, but I can't get it to work. All the resistance tests show that it is good. But it doesn't create any voltage. Do I need a spacer or something?

Thanks gmach10

Re: Stator installation

What motor is it? What's the issue you have (why'd you have to replace it)? Is there no spark or is it not charging?

Re: Stator installation

It's a '92 60 HP. Wasn't getting any spark, trouble shot it back to a bad stator. I removed the original and saw that the black wire with yellow stripe (kill wire)had cracked insulation. I ordered a new one, installed it and still no spark. (I was going on the the first fishing trip of the season and needed the boat.) I taped the cracked insulation on the original, reinstalled it and got spark. Marine dealer said no returns on electrical items. The original looks like it's built alot better than replacement. I should of been clearer on original post, sorry.
