I have a 1990 Johnson outboard which has not been started in 5 years. I replaced the pick up in the gas tank because it was all gummed up and clogged. How do I un-gum (if that is a word) the carberators without removing them?? thank you in advance for your help. EDIT emails not allowed. use PM system. TD

You have to remove and dismantle the carbs to get them clean.

If you want the carbs to work right you need to take them off the outboard motor and disasemble them soak them run small strands of wire threw the jets and then blow compressed air threw the jets, etc. Then they should work fine for you. Let us know, Bob

You un-gum by rebuilding them.
