How to upgrade a boats transom?

Hello i have a question for all you boat owner out there,I just recently purchased a 12ft Sunray with a 30hp Johnson and i'm just wondering if i can get my boat to handle a 40-50hp motor , could a marina do for me or is it even possible? and how much would it cost?

I'd leave well enough alone. For the life of me I just can't see why you'd want to stick a 50 h.p. motor on a 12 foot boat? You on a suicide mission or something?
Just way too much liability there. You're breaking all the laws by doing such and I'll bet ya' a grand the water cops will bust you the very first time they see you out there.

My father agrees with you , but i'm going to do it anyway.....lol , even with the 30hp the boat can only do 60km? and the boats 11 1/2 ft long so not even 12ft. Its pretty fast but not fast enough.

no reputable marina would touch that project as they would not want to pay the liability claim when you kill yourself or more importantly someone else.

overpowering a hull ( especialy a 11.5ft) will make that boat porpoise in and out of the water so bad you will not want to go any faster. dont waste your time ,$$$. effort .-like the other replies said very illegal and not too bright. I'll look for you in the Darwin Award Winners list.
