Looking at picking up a 96 Bayliner Rendezvous 26' with a 5 L. VP I/O. Engine is trash (cracked block).

For those that don't know, this is a deck boat with a cat hull. Personaly, I really like how its laid out and all the room it has available. With a bad engine I can't sea test it so I have no idea how it handles rough water, gets on plane, or how well the cat hull works.

I'm curious if any here has owned one and what they thought of it (good and bad) and if you would ever want another one? You don't see them in my area at all, in fact this is the first one I've actually seen in the area. Not sure what sort of market there is for it.

Re: How desirable is this boat

I just googled one. I think they are just as desireable as any other deck boat. Kinda cool. For some reason the sellers seem to think they are worth mega $$

Cat hulls are generally better in rough water than other types of hulls. They have a speed limitation when you only use one engine due to the Bernoulli effect between the hulls.

If you have the tools and/or money, it should be very easy to swap the 5.0 for a 5.7 assuming the engine is not fuel injected.
