oil leak concern

i have a pleasure craft 302 ford marine inboard engine
with a warner direct drive reverse gear that has engine oil
running out of rear of engine mechanic says that rear main oil seal is
leaking. parts are not available since the engine is a 1980 model.
can i use a ford rear main seal used in cars and trucks or do i need
original replacement part.

The 302 really dosent care where the seals come from .IF yours is reverse rotaion then you need a special seal.

Ditto - there is nothing "marine" about an oil sea, just watch the rotation. Go to NAPA and see what they can get for you.
