Yamaha 9.9 fell over in storage, oil problem?

I pulled my (2005?) Yamaha 9.9 out of my docked barnacle collector until I can clean the hull. I had the motor on a wooden stand which came apart and the motor fell over, probably been that way for a month or more.

After falling over, the motor on its side with the throttle arm on top, you are supposed to lay it throttle handle down. The way it fell, it was laying with the throttle handle on top, laying on it's side.

The motor cover popped off, but otherwise it does not appear to have suffered any damage or even abrasion, though it fell on concrete, it looks okay. Currently, I put it throttle down on it's side, like it says in the manual to transport it, etc.

Is there a problem with it having been on its side, handle on top for a month or more? Did oil go into the carburetor or elsewhere? The fluids were/are full.

Thank you in advance for any information.

You will probably need to pull the spark plug and pull the starter cord a few times to get rid of the oil that may have accumulated. Check the oil level, it only holds about 7/8 qt. If there is oil in the carb, drain the float bowl housing and pump in fresh gas, maybe repeat a couple of times. Seeing that it is a 4 stroke engine, a little bit of started fluid and an new spark plug might help it start.
