What prices do you guys think these 2 motors will bring? The 1975 is in good mechanical condition but have a few cosmetic details in it.
The 1974 has been stored in garage and looks fantastic. Mechanical stat is not confirmed yet but lets just say it is in sound mechanical condition, just for pricing purposes.

Thanks!

PS- Getting a replacement boat is hard work!!!! LOL!

Does the 115 have T&T by any chance?

Get them running. It will increase your selling price or if nothing else greatly reduce the time it will take you to sell them.

No t&t. The 70hp is mine, the 115hp was one I was thinking on buying. I went today but there is a bit much metal shavings in the lower unit for me to buy it worry free plus there is no sea trial. I offered $500 but he say he will think about it. Comression is 125 in all 4, it has good spark. Has many screws in the cowling base that are rusted but the rest look great. Havent been run in a while either. He got it from another guy and he says he has never used it. Right there is another concern... So I will hold up. If he calls then that is great. If not I dont think I will offer him $600 as he wanted. Just to many questions.... Still, I have that feeling I might be missing a good motor... Darn it!!!!

if it has spark and compression and fresh water motor, $600 is ok.

I paid $100 for one in Mint Hill about 3 years ago that looked good but wasn't running. I know probably have about 500.00 in it with repairs and maintence.

I got it to start right away with just putting gas in it. Leaked a bit in the hoses but started at first try. Taking lower unit out to check the impeller to see if I want to wait to get one or if I can tinkle a bit with it. All lower units screws are out but the one under the tab broke. I still have one that I have not removed completely holding the lower unit until I figure how to disconnect the shift linkage. It is a bit different than the 70. Going to the evinrude site...

Turn out that other bolt was also broken. I took the lower unit out and welded a nut to each broken bolt. Heat it the base where the bolts were in. Once came out, the other one just broke again. The one that broke twice is the one under the tab. I replaced the other bolt. I dont think it will hurt to not have that bolt there as it is the smallest one. The other are substancially thicker. I will mess with it when I install the new water pump. The old impeller was in amazingly great shape. I put it back after a bit of lube. Put all the bolts back after using a bit of insurance to keep them from freezing. Got the garden hose on and the darn thing started at the first try. Let it run for a while and it idles great!!!! Headed to the lake for a quick test but the lake police was still in the water so I just turned back. The registration of the boat expired in 2003 and I dont want a ticket just because I was testing a motor. I want to make sure the motor works great before starting ordering parts and try to move it from boat. Anyway, it wa a great buy in my book. I can easily sell the boat/trailer with the 70 that I am replacing with this motor and get my money back. However, i will try to trade it for a atv. I need one for deer camp... we shall see... Thanks everyone! Photos later....

The bolts on those older motors can be a pain to get out sometimes. That has been the only real aggravation with my motor.
