1991 mariner 200 alarm issue help!!!!!

great site first off.. new guy here. just bought a boat with 91 200 mariner on her. shes got good compression, very clean block, runs good on hose, but ive got questions: first ive got a beep beep beep steady alarm as soon as i start it up which from what ive read its a oil alarm. motor sat for 2 yrs prior to me buying it so i did new water pump, new thermostats, new plugs ect. now at running on hose left bank seems cooler than right bank , right side slightly higher. what gives? wht temp should jacket head metal be? old thermos were packed with sand ,i did run it with out thermos pisser was strong.. but i did replace with new thermos now pisser is weak? what gives there? .... oil buzzer : ive read everything from oil module is bad to poppet valve to float in tank stuck to magnet fell off, oil tanks must be full to reset oil buzzer, i will look and try all these. does anybody know what color wire im looking for for oil module? also it doesnt look like theres a disconnect spot like evinrudes where can i try to unplug this?( iam ordering a manual) now i know theres a mixed feelings on this but should i premix and disconnect oil injection? local mech said i should remove oil pump shaft does this have to be done?one guy just looped it back into tank on here said it worked great. i will pre mix 50:1 just in case while testing this motor . any help would be much appreciated thanks.

The oil sender is the two blue wires comming from under the oil tank.
On most engines the power to the alarm module comes from the accessory return wire which is purple. You should be able to disconnect it and that will disable the alarm for both temp and oil.

Most of the Mariner oil injectors have a 9 volt battery that runs the alarm. Sometimes when the battery is going dead it will beep. Does yours have a battery? If so change it and try again. Just a heads up, that battery is the only thing that lets you know when the oil is empty or not pumping. I have heard several stories about the battery going dead and people not knowing and about that time the oil pump quits and burns up the motor. My father actually removed the oil injector and premixes his just to be safe. Other than that, I would listen to the other guys!

The manual will help you a lot. There should be a troubleshooting chart for the oil injection in it.
I don't think there's any 9 volt battery involved. The oil alert module runs off 12 volts from the key switch. If it's beeping (more than the 4 or 5 beep startup test) before the engine starts, either the engine reserve tank isn't full, or the switch in it is bad. Disconnecting it should extinguish the alarm. If disconnecting the tank doesn't stop the alarm, the module is likely bad. If it beeps when the engine is running only, either the signal from the ignition, or the signal from the pump rotation detector is missing, or the module is bad.

All the water for the telltale has to go through the t-stats first. It's normal for a weak or intermittent stream at idle, especially if the supply water is cold.

If you remove the oil injector pump, you need to install a block off plug, which retains the now loose bushing at the bottom of the hole, else it might get tangled up with the works. There is a removal kit which includes that plug, gaskets, and stickers to remind the user to mix oil in the gas.

All the sensor wires to the oil injection module are plugged. The power and alarm output wires go to a terminal strip high on the starboard side of the powerhead. Purple is power, the other is output, and wire or's with the overtemp sender at that point.

Thanks guys i actually topped off the oil to the full over flow statis on the upper tank and fired it up no alarm for the first 2 minutes i then had a leak on the thermo jacket so i shut her down, i did remove the new thermos i just put in now i have a strong pisser again,im not sure why this motor doesnt have a strong pisser with the new thermos in. any cons to running with out thermos?? also im still having a hotter head on the right bank not a sizzler but almost to hot to keep ur hand on it but not enouigh to sizzle with water splashed on it. should i pull off the head cover and check the passages or just dropit in the water and run it a bit to blow out the channels? no heat buzzers are going off by the way.guage says 150 ish. thanks ahead of time.

It might be running lean on that side. Try richening it up a bit and see if it cools down. Even on muffs I don't think a water cooled outboard ever gets that hot unless under load at full throttle. Your thermostat install sounds like the problem. Maybe you got the wrong stats.

Agree with the disagree about the battery thing. Probably not stock.. But just because I've never heard of it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
