Reading through your restoration has sure given me inspiration to get after mine! My boat is alot like yours but just bigger and a center console conversion. Your doing an awesome job! It won't be long for you to have it in the water!

You've got a great boat to work on. The 22 feet will give you more seating options to arrange whatever you'd like.

I'm going to give Starcraft a call using the number from your thread to see if I can still get the original trim, etc.

We'll all be following along on your thread as well. You might end up passing me :)

I bought some Polk Audio Db691 and DB651 speakers for the boat :) They were more than 50% off and passed all the marine certification tests. I'll post some pics on them later.

Kind of overboard for a fishing boat but they were an awesome deal. I'll probably also do a cd/dvd player for the boat as well since I'm on the overboard theme. Not sure if anyone else has heard of any other brands as this one I'm looking at at is the Jensen DV2007 marine cd/dvd player.

Enough with the bling. I need to focus on getting the transom done....

I'm pretty sure you'd be breaking some kind of law powering polk speakers with a Jensen :p

It is kind of blasphemous but they were cheap on sale so they are kind of in the same price range :)

I wouldn't have paid full price for sure but a sale is a sale :)

Oh no..Not audiphiles!!!

Sounds are sounds and you can be rocking Tinstock for sure!

Sounds will be the last thing I put in, if I ever do..My old Sony sportsman waterproof boom boox maybe all the sounds I ever use..Jury's out on that for now.

I'm planning on spending a lot of time on the boat as you can see. :)

I like the peace and solitude of being on the water. Odds are it will be off most of the time but it's bait for my boys to come along and sit in a boat all day long. If the fishing isn't that hot I'm sure I'll pop a movie in to keep them occupied.

I've changed my mind on the dvd player built in to the stereo. I'm going to pickup a better stereo with built in ipod jack and Sirius satellite radio built in.

I'll just use my old xbox with a 300 Watt power inverter that I have in the Yukon. It just plugs into the lighter to drive the XBox. I also have a 9 inch lcd screen that I can move into the boat when I need it for the boys to watch movies. I'm going to be constantly charging batteries I guess...

I'll be taking a couple of sheets of 3/4 inch marine plywood into my father in laws shop next weekend and start the epoxy sandwich for the transom.

Sprint hope to see you at the end of January if and when you make it to Las Vegas! well burn some steak and have cold beers! (or warm irish coffees)

Happy Holidays

ps good idea with the old xbox, we use our old on in our RV...they arent worth much on CL so might as well find uses for em! (such as DVD player, game player for the boat etc)

I picked up a couple of sheets of 3/4 inch marine plywood to make the transom epoxy sandwich. The supplier is closed for the holidays that sells the epoxy so I'll pick it up on Tuesday when it opens.

I'll have the sheets epoxied together on Fri or Sat and will pull the old transom out and trace it shortly thereafter.

Every little bit counts :)

I picked up my epoxy. I'll also post my parts list that I ordered for all the molded hoses, gaskets for everything from head gasket to valve cover, exhaust manifold gasket, transom kit, thermostat housing with new thermostat and gaskets, etc. All Mercruiser original parts which comes out to about $500.00 or so. I'm hoping the quality parts will mean durability as well.

Hopefully that is my last major expense other than some trailer paint before I can float this thing.

Here's my two sheets of 3/4 marine plywood being laminated together with thickened epoxy with cabosil. We made close to half of an ice cream pail of the thickened epoxy and it worked out perfect.

We mixed it with a drill and some small blender type attachment. We spread it with a notched metal adhesive trowel from Home Depot.

The wood has about five hundred pounds of granite and marble piled on it to keep it all smooshed together.

Actually the previous pics were the mixing. Here's the good stuff.

Can you say clamps? He's got a lot of them from his shop.

Sorry about the crappy phone pics again...

Re: 77 Starcraft Holiday 18 i/o - rebuild with pics galore

I'm selling some gun stuff on e-bay to round up some extra cash to buy my gaskets, bearings, etc. Trying not to put so much of a dent in the old pocketbook. So far so good. One item sold and two others to go :)

That leaves only $300 or so out of pocket for the parts. I'll see if I can get the old transom out this upcoming week.

I coud use some of that granite for a fireplase I'm building. Ha, Ha, :p
That should really stay smooshed.

If you were closer I'd get you some. I think the shipping costs on the free granite would equal what you could find it locally for :)
