How much will it cost to replace a lower cable on a 1993 5.8 OMC Outdrive if done at a good boat shop Also how long will it take? Thanks for your responses.

Get a quote from a couple shops. The number can be all over the place, and time to repair depends on how busy the shop is. Shouldn't take more than a few hours of labor if everything goes perfectly (and they understand OMC drives).

Of course, you could save the cost by doing it yourself. That's what these forums are for!

Just the cable is around 100 bucks. Then you need the transom service gaskets,o-rings,ect...
It would be a good time to do the full transom service with new bellows too..

Looking at about 250 or so for parts and about 3 to 4 hours labor.
Make sure the shop has experience with OMC drives.

Thanks for the input on my question. These forums are very helpful and I would try to fix it my self but since we just bought it and had trouble with it I thought it would be better to have a boat shop check it out to make sure there are not any other problems with the drivetrain.
