I'm shopping for controls for a 2003 50hp Johnson that I bought with no accessories. On the BRP website, the side mount control I need (#5006180) lists for about $297 + shipping. New ones on Ebay seem to be going for $200; used ones go for less, it seems around $100+.
Does anyone know what price range local dealers charge, is it about the same as Ebay or more? Do they usually charge the same list price as the BRP direct buy price?
The new ones I see on ebay are new-in-box and include all the accessories, wiring etc. including instructions, which I would need, having never done this before. Some of the sellers are marine dealers. I'm a little hesitant to go used not knowing what to look for, or having familiarity with the setup, but that could save quite a bit.
Do you think that's the best way to go?
