cuddy or bowrider?

Hi, I'm new here. Haven't owned a boat since the 70s'. I am interested in buying a small boat, something sporty. But I have 2 dogs I'd like to take out regularly with us, and living in central florida, I wonder what would be better for keeping them a little cooler. Being in the open on a bowrider, or in the shade in a cuddy? May not seem like a big deal, but I love my dogs, and don't want them to suffer heat prostration. Any boaters here take their dogs out? Any advice for me? thank you, Joe

I take both of my Boxers out all the time.I have a small cuddy and they do get in it for shade.

The best bet is a nice bimini top to go with it.

They did like the open bow i used to have.Standing in front with ears flapping in the wind...

Bimini is nice for shade without getting intense heat building up like it can in a cuddy.

A bimini top gives them plenty of shade and they are out in the moving air. Cuddys get HOT when the sun beats down.

Cuddies seem to be much more popular up north than down here in the south. From my experience here in Louisiana, "cuddy" and "oven" are the same thing on a boat from April through November or December (unless you have an air conditioner).

Thanks. He's a GoldenDoodle (part Golden Retriever and part Poodle) and does love boating.
