Need Help!

I just purchased a 1973 Reinell Cabin Cruiser. I am working to restore this boat to its orgional condition (or close to it). The hull is in decent shape, some scraches (both major and minor). Unfortunally I dont have any idea how this boat orgionally looks, other than I can put 1 + 1 together to figure out what pieces go where.

I am not sure that the Chevy Small Block is the orgional motor to the boat, but not too worried easy engine to work on.

Guess the help I am needing is locating the fold away canopy that covers the helm / Kitchen enclosure, and some pictures to see if I can fabercate anything.

Also some good advice on where to actually start on this project. I just cleaned out all the drawers and did some minor touchup.

Re: Need Help!

Welcome to iboats eriktornkvist..

Welp..first thing to do is clean it all out. Anything thats not fastened down take it off the boat and clean it. Clean the boats inside.

Look for insect infestation..bug bomb it if you have to.

Then take a deep breath..and grab your trusty icepick and hammer .. and start picking and tapping away at every single piece of wood or lammed wood you can reach ( transom..stringers..bulkheads etc. ). Know your boat..

Run the boat on muffs and look for any leaks..Then look at the bellows etc on the drive unit for damage. Drain+change the lube in your block and Drive.. Look for water in the gear lube in the drive especially..

Basically Look and look some more on any and all things that might be bad or needs attention. Some things can get very expensive..

Just a starter rambling ;)

Re: Need Help!

Thanks for the advice.

Here is a few pictures of what im looking at:

I know the engine needs thermostat housing, thermostat, and alternator.

I fixed the window (put it back on its hinge), worked on the door to the cuddy, and managed to find the laminate for the table.

and took at what im guessing is a cooler out (have a car refrig / cooler type thing can put there)

Does a boat require the same type of wireing as a house? I found a bunch of splicing, and extention cords throughout the boat along with light sockets (they will be replaced as soon as I get somewhere)
