My ply for the deck already has some resin coated onto it.

Can i add the matt over this to complete the glassing for the deck?

I can't imagine needing new ply.

Glass job will be done acording to instructions on "fiberglass info." for new decks.

thanks again

Yes, but there are a couple of things you may need to do.

Did the resin you used have wax in it? If it did, the wax needs to be removed and then the surface needs to be sanded very well.

Without wax, if it only sat for a day or so after you coated it and it was kept clean and indoors, then you can go right over it. If it sat longer than that, or went out side, then it needs to be sanded before the glass is laid down.

wil this be light sand or heavy sand to really scruff it up?

If the surface will gum up 80 grit paper rapidly, then you should be able to go right over it. If the surface is rock hard and glossy, then sand it with some 36 grit lightly, no need to dig deeply into it.

i would lightly scuff it either way to make sure u dont have any little nubs sticking up that will make the glassing more difficult

according to the instructions in the "how to's" i will need 72 square ft of material and just over a gal of resin.

all i can find is pkg of 8 sq ft at most shops. where's the best place to purchase larger pieces??

thanks again.
