Can anyone help me out with this. I was putting in the manifold drain plugs into my boat and one of the plugs broke off (if you are looking at the engine it is the one on the left). In my attempt to get the plug out, I ended up breaking off the piece that the plug screws into (the metal piece that actually screws into the engine). Can anyone tell me where I can find that piece and what it is called. Also, how to take it out would be helpful as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, you guys are great!

Not quite sure exactly which plug you are talking about.

Could you post a picture?

Sorry that is not the plug in question. The plug that I am talking about is a plastic wing-nut plug. The piece in question in the metal part that the plastic wing-nut plug goes into.

I will take a pic tonight and post tomorrow.

Sorry I had a typo on my last post...please let me clarify.

The plug itself is one of two plastic wing-nut plugs. The piece that I am trying to locate is the metal piece that the plastic wing-nut screws into.

Thanks agian and I will post a pic tomorrow.

So the brass insert that the plug screws into is broken off inside the exaust manifold right. At this point your best bet will be to spray some pb blaster on whats left and try very carefully to get it out with the appropriate EZ out. If you bung up the threads in the manifold I think you would be hard up to try and re tap or tap new threads into it just because of its makeup. Maybe I am wrong though. The brass insert is in there so those threads don't get messed up. How did the brass get messed up with the plastic wing plug in there? I know the older ones were a brass insert and a brass plug. The insert (or almost reducer bushing) does have loctite on it from the factory and I am sure that is what is adding to your problem. Whatever you do be careful with those threads in the manifold, good luck.

Ayuh,... Use an EZ-Out to remove the broken piece,+ then get some like in the link above to replace All of those pieces of Crap you've got now...

The type he`s referring to is the later model manifold drains,a hard plastic that the blue winged plug screws into.

Ayuh,.... The new 1s that are JUNK....

That's why I said to switch over to Brass Plugs...

different thread size,Bondo. Best is to go back to the brass one`s and remove the hose to drain it

Ayuh,... Gotcha,... It's the JUNK Elbow, with the drainplug built into it...

Those are even Worse than the JUNK they put in the block drains....

Those things Rot something Terrible, even up here in the Sweetwater....
If they made 'em outa Brass it might be an Improvement....

Re: 4.3LX 6 Cylinder plug issue

I can attest that the plastic one rot inside the manifold. One of mine developed a small leak and I broke it tying to take it out. I tried the EZ out method and buggered it up worse. I ultimately had to remove the manifold and take it to a machine shop to clean up the threads. I'd just go ahead and do that instead of risking damage to your manifold with an EZ out if it gives you any indication of trouble. The manifold is easy to remove.
