I recently just arrived on the boating scene and i'm learning things a little at a time. I bought a 1986 bayliner capri this year and it needs some work but not alot. I plan on reupholstering and what not which I can figure out on my own. However, I would like to throw on a new coat of paint or change the color a bit and I was looking for some tips about what I should do.
1. Is there a special marine paint I should invest in? I actually thought about just covering with rhino liner but I decided that would probably look like crap.
2. Can I just paint over the original paint or do I need to prep the hull with sandpaper and what not?
3. What would be the best way to paint the hull? Roll the boat over? Or build a stantion of some sort to support the boat so I can get underneath it without the trailor.
If you have any tips that would be great!
