First, thank you for everyone that answers posts on this forum. I belong to other forums, Jeep, and appreciate the wealth of knowledge that everyone brings. I have yet another "what year is this?". I bought a '57 Glastex Speed Queen off of Craigslist with a Johnson motor. Previous owner had no clue what motor it was. He was told it was a newer 70 hp. The data plate is missing and there is nothing on the freeze plug or any type of metallic disk on the engine. Here are some of the numbers I have found:
317148 - electrical panel
318434 - lower motor cover
317219 - thermostat housing
and what looks like 1890 3.JQ1 stamped on the mount.
I think it's a '73 65 hp. If it is, what seperates the different models for that year?
Thanks.
Edit: I did find one number on a freeze plug(?) on the top of the motor. J3835225. It has a large M above the number.
Thanks.
