Re: Marine Flat Rate.

This proboably refers to flat rate hours. The manufacturer says a job takes 6 hours their looking for a guy who can do it well in 5. (Of course they still charge 6 hours)

What boat brands do they sale? or are they service only? because mostly from what I have seen a boat manufacturer's warranty pay's a lot less over all then say a engine manufacturer to the dealers them self for warranty. The boat guy's will try to pay the dealer say .25hr to aujust something you might have a little over a hour in it some times then some times you will need to call them or write a long story why it took so long and some places will pay it and others will try to say will go in half with you and just pay a little extra but not all. But the engine guys are a little better about it.

No idea on the boat brands... i'm sure it's a little bit of everything.

Ad reads as follows...

Craigslistad said:

If you are able to meet these requirements please fax your resume to (904) 425-0977.

I think they are looking for a guy with high production capability. Most techs will get a job done in less time than what the flat rate pays, after they have gotten the proper experience and tools to learn the job properly. You can beat flat rate by doing a 5hr job in 3 hrs. Flat rate is completely fair and offers a great incentive to the technicians to focus on their job and be productive. It also helps the industry to maintain some type of standard in the area of billing for their work.

I understand what you are saying. What I am saying is that there is no such thing as flat rate in boats outside of warranty work.
