Well I launched and retrieved by myself today, went without a hitch!

I did drag my skeg up the ramp, until I realized I left the drive down. I jumped out expecting the worst, and to my relief, no damage, just a some paint removal. :D

Your first time went way better than my first time.

After a few more times you will get a "system" down. I prefer to do my launching myself now. Every time someone helps me I forget to do something or forget personal stuff in the vehicle.

Congratulations. Boating is an awesome, life long passion where we always have room to grow, share and care.

Solo again. I actually work for my wife, and she is kind enough to give me off on Friday. ;)

I will be out every Friday(weather cooperating) this summer, getting as much seat time as I can. You should take off some Friday.

You are right. I need a friday. Thanks for the suggestion.

Actually I spent an hour on the mooring in the pooring rain charging the battery and checking up on the old gal.

I would love to but all of my vacation days at work are already planned for the rest of the year.

Hope you have a great time!

Re: First solo trip

I'm sure most of us on this forum remember our first solo time out.

Mine was just last year (newbie), and I recall it took me almost two hours from the time I got the idea just to get up the courage to actually go through with it!

Best part was that it was on a weekday and there were few others at the ramp or on the lake. Got to spend time figuring more things out about the boat, hole shots, trim, trolling motor, accessories, etc., without worrying about being in the way of someone else. Oh, and figured out what reference point to use on the bow to line up the boat when loading onto the trailer.

Everything worked out fine, but boy that ol' ticker was sure beating fast for a while there. I imagine it was much the same for others, as well.

Yeah, I was nervous until I launched.

Today is my 2nd solo and I am much more relaxed.

Re: First solo trip

Just got back from solo #2, all went well and I even remembered to put my drive up.

It's weird, both times someone asked me if I was launching the boat by myself, like it's a big deal to launch a 21' Nova alone?
