Hi,

I have a 17 wahoo boat and I cannot find any information on what is in the transom........I was told that this boat had no wood so I guess it is only foam? I'm not sure, but I would like to use seacast to fix the transom.....If it is foam, how hard is it to remove? any help would be appreciated.....

Please email me at EDIT
thanks,
brian

If it is not wood then it would be composite and not be rotted,
If you know its rotted or the transom flexes and has stress cracks then wood it is.
from inside the transom in an out of the way place like the bilge, drill a hole about 1/2 inch deep and see what comes out..
Dark, moist shavings it will be wet wood. You can always fill the test hole with 3M 5200..

Welcome to iboats. The Wahoo 17 is fiberglass and foam. What is the situation with your transom? Is it cracked, weak, leaking? I have no idea if they "hid" a piece of wood inside the fiberglass and you might want to do some test boring and inspection.

My deck has no wood, it was cored and I just got through re-coring it.
Just because theres no wood doesn't mean what they used is foolproof.
