Since I am sitting at the gate waiting to fly home..
I think the tape really needs to be removed as soon as the paint is set..
I believe that if it sits, the adhesive gums, toss in rain that I am sure seeped under the tape and compromised the paint.


I would be freeeekin P'OD if I stayed up busin my backside and it not be perfect....wait..I know exactly how you feel...sucks to be us bro

Mark I appreciate the help on the tpe issue . Honestly where I screwed up was leaving the tape on to long and letting it get rained on in the mean time . I usually tape stuff off and paint right then and there . Then as soon as the paint is slightly tacked I start pulling tape . I have never had a problem this way and I have been painting cars for years. I should have pulled the tape as soon as I saw the rain comming and didnt . I will prevail just a little more sanding and retaping . I have plenty of paint so thats not an issue .

i was at my sister in laws yesterday and she just painted her bathroom... and i noticed where her tape line where she changed color was not very good looking... all i could think was she didnt press the tape on fully... had like little spots where it git UNDERNEATH the tape...

Heres a little secret for multi color paint jobs after you tape off for your new color one try to make sure the tape is down good then take the color you are taping over and pint a coat with it over the tpe edge . This will seal the tpe edge and any runs under the tpe will be the color uder the tpe anyways not your new color . This works well on a textured wall such as a bathroom .

LOL Mark actually it rained off and on all morning . Once I was sure it was over I hit the bottom of the boat with the DA with some 320 wiped it down with a tack cloth and the first coat of white is tacking as we speak .

Ok for todays progress we have the bottom of the boat sanded with 320 and 2 coats of white on fter the storms this morning . Morsw storms rolling in now so I stopped painting for the night so it would dry before the rain started .

With any luck the weather will cooperate tomorrow and I will be able to sand and get 2 more coats on the bottom which will make 1 coat of Zinc 3 coats of primer and 4 coats of paint.

I managed to get one more coat on her so fr today . I may try one last coat tonight then I will be ready to start fixing the sides tomorrow with 4 full coats on the bottom.

Andy theres a white paint run at the top and still some sand from sandblasting rivets at the bottom or vice versa if the boat was upright . I still have to give her a good bath before I fget to reworking the sides but didnt worry to much about it while doing the bottom.

rick, you defanatly need to work on that trailer while the boat is off... you will never have another chance like this...

LOL yeah guys I am planning to rebunk and put new rollers on the trailer and probably a quick paint job this week while I let the paint on the bottom set up nice . The bunks really only need new carpet but PT 2X4's are fairly cheap so might as well while the triler is empty .
