On my ocean pro 115 with the shift cable disconnected and engine running should I be able to shift by hand from under the engine cowl? I do I need a bar or screwdriver to lean against the lever to make it go into gear. Can"t get it to go by hand but can use a large screwdriver for leverage to get fwd or rev. Could this be a problem in the lower unit? Has not been apart since I have owned boat. thanks

how long have you qwned the boat? being in Tampa, if the water pump and tstats have not been service in 2 years you are over due. you can check then, could be rust on the shaft.

are you talking rust on the shift rod? Or on the shaft? If the shaft I don"t see what that has to do with shifting. I have had the boat going on a year now. New water pump and new lube service the week I picked up the boat. If my shifting problem is in lower unit I will replace water pump while I have it down. But I still don"t understand what that has to do with the shifting. thanks

I can shift my 200 by hand, no problem.

TD is pretty much on track. No rust, SS shift shaft. Problems with build-up on the seal where the shaft enters the housing are common.
