force 70 leaves me stranded

Need help. My force 70 starts fine and runs good, but when I cut the motor off it dosen't want to restart for about an hour or so. It almost seems flooded or something. Can anyone help?

Sounds like a stator problem. What year motor?

It probably is flooded.
The diaphrams in the fuel pump do not hold up well to the new alcohol fuels.
They develop small pin holes and eventually tears.

When you run the engine, it builds fuel pressure in the fuel system.
When you turn off the engine, the fuel leaks through the diaphram into the powerhead and the fuel accumulates in the lower cylinders resulting in a flooded condition.

Get a fuel pump rebuild kit and spend 25 minutes fixing it. It should only cost about $15 from any Mercury dealer.

Gonna have to know the year when you go for the kit.

91-92 70 hp used an oval fuel pump.
newer models used a square fuel pump.

I put the fuel pump kit on yesterday and I think it did the trick. Thanks again for your help.

they cost $15 - $20, depending which dealer you get it from.

The kit for the force 70 was $20.00 for the quicksilver brand. There was another for $10.00 but was out of stock. It was pretty easy to put on.
