We have a 1984 OMC Cobra. Have had great luck with it until this weekend. We have a water leak at the very back of the engine. I can't quite tell where it is at. I can barely reach it. Leaks with and without the engine running. Water running loud enough that you can hear it. Luckly our bilge pump stayed with the flow and we got home OK. But where do I start? Can't really see anything.

Re: Water Leak

I put water in the bilge. The water comes out at the back of the boat, where the bottom of the housing for the drive meets the fiberglass, just above the plug. This is the only place I can see water leaking from.

Re: Water Leak

I had the same exact problem, called the shop and they looked at it. Said they did not see a need on my boat to remove the engine or drive and reseal, it was juat a few bolts that loosed over time. We tightened them up and all was good. Hopefully yours is the same, otherwise sounds like it may be time to reseal the transom assembly. My shop quoted 800 to do it, but like I said after looking at it determined it was not required.

Hopefully, it is not a rotten transom causing this.

Also, Cobra did not come out until some time in 1985.
